Studied Psychology and Theology in Neuendettelsau, Erlangen, Marburg and Berlin. Diploma in Psychology 1980 at the Department of Psychology, Free University Berlin. Theological exam 1983 in Ansbach. Ph.D. 1988, Free University Berlin, Habilitation 1993 Justus-Liebig-University of Giessen. 1982-83 Research assistant in a project on Psychological stress at work. 1983-1987 Research and teaching assistant for work and organizational psychology at the Department of Psychology, Free University Berlin. 1987-1990 Research assistant in a project on human-computer interaction at the University of Munich. 1990-1991 Guest at the Department of Psychology, University of Manchester. 1991-1993 Scientific assistant, Department of Psychology, Justus-Liebig-University Giessen. 1993-1994 Visiting professor at the University of Bielefeld. 1994-1997 Professor at the University of Konstanz. Since 1997 Professor for Work and Organizational Psychology at the Johann Wolfgang Goethe-University Frankfurt.
