The Instrument for Stress-oriented Job Analysis (Instrument zur Stressbezogenen Tätigkeitsanalyse ISTA) is one of the most relevant German instruments for the measurement of task-related, organizational, and environmental stressors at work. Theoretical foundations are psychological stress theories (sensu Lazarus) and the theory of action regulation. The instrument has been revised several times during recent years. The current version is ISTA 6.0 (May 1998; previous version: ISTA 5.1, Oct. 1995). ISTA covers the following aspects:
- Complexity at Work,
- Control at Work,
- Time-control,
- Participation
- Variability,
- Uncertainty,
- Organizational Problems,
- Time Pressure,
- Concentration Necessities,
- Interruptions at Work,
- Danger of Accidents,
- Environmental Stressors,
- Communication Possibilities,
- Cooperation Requirements,
- Cooperation Autonomy,
- Cooperation Necessity
A self-report version for job incumbents and a version for expert observations are available. The self-report version is also available for Computers running Microsoft Windows. In addition, there are English, French, Italian, and Polish translations available.
The instrument ISTA 6.0 can be obtained from us.
